[Learning and Teaching HOW TO Walk the Talk]

Drafted by Clement E. Glenn, PhD

INTRODUCTION

Life in the 21st century promises to be the best and worst times in the history of America. It’s been stated that vision without action is just a dream. Time, which is the second most precious commodity of all—behind wisdom, affords us the opportunity to develop proactive strategies and approaches to deal with and effectively address what our eyes have yet to see, or refuse to see. Make no mistake, America will have to face the future together—the good, bad, and ugly if we are to survive and succeed.

A NEED FOR CATALYSTS AND CHANGE AGENTS

[Insert Name of School District/University] must step out of the shadows into the light for the purpose of taking the leadership role in producing what will be needed to address the uncertainty of the future—a pluralistic society—one that allows for full participation without losing one’s ethnic identity. For this to happen, [Insert Name of School District/University], as a public institution for quality learning, must begin to see itself as the root that serves as an anchor to all of the lives that are connected to it—students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the rest of the community’s stakeholders. Our campuses must begin to see themselves as the vines that are connected to the root. Our departments and classrooms must begin to see themselves as the branches connected to the vines. And, our human resources (people) must see themselves as the leaves connected to the branches. We must come to see these connections (relationships) as the key ingredients to creating and sustaining quality life.

AN EDUCATIONAL MESSAGE FOR PRACTITIONERS AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS

It is with sincerest hope that the following MESSAGE will be adopted by [Insert Name of School District/University] and our Community Family as we initiate a movement that will supremely impact our campuses, cities, counties, regions, states, nation, and world.

Note: This is not about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

THE MESSAGE: Creating Ambassadors

[The Big Six (6) For Producing Cultural Change and Diversity]

ELECT DR. CLEMENT E. GLENN-GOVERNOR-DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

Hello. I’m Dr. Clement E. Glenn, Democratic candidate for Texas Governor.

The reason I entered the race for Governor is because I believe that I’m qualified to move Texas beyond politics as usual. I am campaigning as a statesman, not a politician. A statesman is one who expertly governs in a true democracy—where governance is shared at both the community and college level.

As a your Governor, I will be the catalyst for real change that spans from the office of Governor down to the grassroots community and college level. Real change in Texas will set on a foundation that is established and sustained by effective communication, collaboration, coordination and cooperation.

At the community level, a board of Governors linked directly to my office will be established in each of the 254 counties in Texas for the purpose of addressing and solving the problems and issues associated with each respective county. Each county or community is comprised of 5 primary institutions that include: 1) Families; 2) Schools; 3) Churches (places of worship); 4) Businesses; and 5) Governments. Each institution will have a critical role to play in solving the problems that are specific to that community. These problems include:

Ineffective schools and educational outcomes

Antisocial, unlawful and immoral behavior

Unemployment and under-employment

Unsuitable working conditions

Unsafe roads, highways and bridges

Lack of quality and affordable housing and medical care for senior citizens and the disabled, including military veterans

Shared governance at the community and college level will serve to reduce the size of our traditional government that continues with its ineffective effort to legislate rather than educate attitudes and behaviors of people; thereby producing bigger government, higher taxes levied for the purpose of protecting people from people and prosecuting those who get caught in their illegal acts, and an underground multi-billion dollar black market resulting in zero dollars being taxed on the uncaught.

As a quality educator, I understand how to take the leadership role if reducing the size of government, reducing the tax burden, upgrading education for all Texans, creating new employment and career opportunities, and upgrading the overall quality of life in our communities is what you desire.

A GRASSROOTS PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY WHERE EMPOWERMENT IS THE GOAL

[SHARED GOVERNANCE AND KEY INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATIVES]

State Level Community Level College Level

Governor Generals Board of Governors Board of Governors

1. Family 1. Family 1. Students

2. School 2. School 2. Faculty

3. Church (Places of Worship)	3. Church (Places of Worship)	3. Staff

4. Government 4. Government 4. Administrators

5. Business 5. Business 5. Alumni

For real change, elect Dr. Clement E. Glenn for Texas Governor in the Democratic Primary on March 2,

The early voting period for the March 2nd primary is February 16-26.
